Wood-firing, in particular, brings a tactile and visual richness to the bowl—surfaces shaped by flame, ash, and atmosphere—rendering them inviting to both hand and eye. Through the acts of making and firing, something mysterious happens when we couple inspiration from the mind’s eye, the work of our hands, camaraderie surrounding the kiln, and natural forces. The bowl becomes more than a vessel; it becomes a record of intention, personal relationships, chance, and use.
