Jody writes: "I’d like to be able to let participants bring greenware if they want to. My pots are all green, and I’d like to show them how I use rice straw on greenware too for nice effects. We’ll go a little slower than we would with a kiln full of bisque. Participants may either ship or bring their work.
I am located 6 miles from the coast and the town of Belfast. Belfast is a wonderful coastal town with many places to stay, eat, drink and shop. An extensive list of accommodations and attractions can be found on www.belfastmaine.org, the Belfast Chamber of Commerce’s website.
Some personal favorite things to do in this area which people might enjoy are eating lobsters at Young’s Lobster Pound in Belfast, having a drink and enjoying live music at Marshall Wharf Brewing Co. and Three Tides pub right on the waterfront in Belfast, a farm to table dinner with live music at Toddy Pond Farm in Monroe, or a Thursday night Irish Irish music session at the Homeport Tavern in Searsport. My musician friends and I enjoy playing around the kiln and firings too, and I expect we’ll have music here at some point during the loading and firing too.
My showroom will be full and open throughout the conference week. There are a lot of great potters in this area, including my crew members Betsy Levine, Siem van der Ven, Cory Upton-Coselich, co-owner of Belfast Clay Studio, Kyla Cech, Miki Glasser and Meghan Flynn. They will be available for visits as well. Belfast’s annual arts festival, Arts in the Park, will take place on the waterfront on June 24 and 25. Information for that festival will also be available on www.belfastmaine.org. "
