What is the New England Woodfiring Conference?
June 21-July1: An opportunity for potters of all levels to participate with one of NEWFC's Host Kin crews. 
​
A 10 day wood firing extravaganza and centralized conference.  Join one of 9 active New England wood firing crews. 
Participants will have the opportunity to fire their own high-fire works in one of 9 Host Kilns.  2 cubic feet/attendee. 
During the 10-day firig extravaganza, fire your work at your chosen Host Kiln.
Visit participating Host Kiln firings, unloadings, sales and demonstrations.
Then join us for a weekend of centralized conference experiences in the New Haven, CT area.


Firing Week 
​June 21 -29

Spanning New England, attendees will join a Host Kiln stoke crew and experience a wood firing from start to finish. 
In most cases, kilns are loaded, fired and unloaded during Firing Week. Reach out to us for details.
While your Host Kiln is cooling, embark on an a-la-carte tour of participating NEWFC Host Kilns. Demonstrations, Kiln openings and sales will be among the offerings at each kiln site.

Conference Weekend 
June30/July1

Friday June 30: Firing Finale 
After dinner at Massaro Farm, Woodbridge, CT, we'll socialize around the Pyranha-Gama hybrid-anagama as it fires off.
During the day, attend exhibitions, open studios, demonstrations and lectures in the surrounding New Haven area. 
 -Dinner at Massaro Farm, an organic farm in        Woodbridge, CT.

 -Pyranha-Gama peak temperature finale and
   Social gathering Youngberg Kiln Yard. 

 -Unloading of the GuppieGama.
 -Open studios in the New Haven area.
 
July 1: Conference Center
A day of conference activities in the New Haven area. Daytime activities to be announced.
Gallery Opening. We'll wrap up the conference  up with live music and  a catered gallery reception.
-Juried by Chris Gustin, The Will of the Kiln showing of wood-fire works will inhabit the Painted Path's gallery.

-We'll hear from our Key Note speaker, Norwegian community wood-fire potter-Lillann Ulverud.
3D clay printer and woodfire potter, Kiichi Takeuchi will share of his experiences with 3D printing at Long Island University, Post.
